Alan spent 25 years in the British Army as a Royal Engineer serving his country in Malaya, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, British Honduras, Gibraltar and Germany. In his final years he was at the War Office before retiring to work in the paper industry locally.
Now fully retired Alan and his wife Jean both serve as your local councillors striving hard to improve the quality of live for residents of Woodstock and Tunstall and they have both built up a reputation for real community action.

Jean, along with her husband Alan, represents Woodstock Ward on Swale Borough Council. Jean has previously served as the Mayoress of Swale.
